Characteristic of the exhibition

Exhibition Architecture for the crown – People and architecture in the ties of Charles the IV. is concipated as a walk through the gothic city with the guide. The Guide is architect of the Charles the IV., Petr Parléř. Parléř has an audience with king and he needs to take care of a lot of things – visit a painter, glassblower, abbot and buy things from shop and from taylor, also visit baths, and finaly take plans of new cathedral from his building works. Children on this walk learn about architecture, buildings, art and life of the people in the times of reign of the Charles the IV., with his person and his reign. Charles the IV. as an emperor felt that he was predetermined to continue tradition of Charles the Great. The connection of the roman and czech crown was drawn from the clan motivation: after his mother Eliška (Elizabeth) he had premyslids roots and linkage to the celebrated czech history from which the most stand out the person of Saint Venceslaw. In the middle of the 14th century the czech lands were avoided by plague pandemy which killed more than 50% of the Europe population. This was the reason for the crisis of the west and south Europe and why the Czech was propserous and manage to catch up with the other countries in politics and culture sphere.
Besides Petr Parléř kinds were introduced with on of the best friends of Charles – Arnošt of Pardubice (1st archbishop of Prague), Master Havel of Strahov (Charles’s personal physician and astrologer).
Exhinition were made of scenery, models, artefacts and replicas of periodic objects, panles with information and pictures (image part was accented). Part of the exhibiot was continuous task for children – puzzle of stained glass (gothic window) and workshops – practical part, where children could try out some of the work by themself and make a thorough study.
